GROWING TOGETHER
farming for the future,
gardening for all generations
OUR VISION
Growing together today is our pathway into the beautiful future. To truly know the ancient and ancestral beings – microbial, fungal and floral – we must grow them. Only then will we realize, it has been them growing us all along! Without their wisdom, life on this planet is not possible.
Every set of human hands, every human heart that is willing to grow together with them in co-creative, regenerative and reciprocal relationships is reweaving human culture into the cooperative, life-affirming way of All That Is.
In the ground, we discover the stars who sing us the memory of who we are here to be. We dedicate all the work of our hands and hearts to their service. We, beautiful humans, are here to serve sky, ground and all beings in between. May we all continue growing together in beauty forever.
OUR MISSION
Ground Culture is a community-supported agricultural education project on Wapato Island (Sauvie Island) in Portland, Oregon. Ground Culture focuses on restoring soil and water using microbes, fungi, fermentation and fire.
We learn from and co-create with our elemental teachers — earth, air, fire and water — to restore regenerative relationships for transitional times.
We are dedicated to collectively reawakening the wisdom of the ancestral microbial, fungal and floral beings through cultivation, education, healing and community.
CULTIVATION
Ground Culture provides high-quality cultivation products and skill-sharing workshops for growing regenerative, nutrient-dense food and medicine. We partner with plants, fungi and microbes to foster climate-resiliency through culturing and seed saving. We work to support bioremediation of land + water and habitat restoration projects for pollinators and wildlife. We tend our Fungi Food Forest of medicinal fungi, native plants and trees on Wapato Island Farm and maintain our Seeds + Spores Culture Library to help provide food and medicine security for pollinators, community and future generations.
EDUCATION
Ground Culture offers community education events, including mudball making parties, school garden programs, volunteer work parties and skill-share workshops. We aim to make these resources and skills accessible to everyone through online education and by partnering with local grassroots organizations, indigenous communities, non-profits and farms.
HEALING
Ground Culture aims to restore regenerative relationships for transitional times. We believe that as we partner with life to heal land, we heal ourselves. When we are growing together, we are healing together. All Ground Culture sales support our continued community work, product donations and bioremediation projects.
COMMUNITY
Ground Culture looks to the wisdom of our ancestral earth, which shows us the power of working together in relationship and building networks for regeneration. We are dedicated to creating community gatherings and opportunities for connection locally and globally. If you are interested in partnering with us, please contact us!
