Farm-grown Wood Blewitt mushroom spawn for growing in your garden and on your patio. Inoculate your shady spaces with the wonderous Wood Blewit! This purple, fall-fruiting mushroom can be grown in shady, moist soil and underneath conifers and deciduous trees to add amethyst accents to your garden. Found throughout the woodlands of North America, this fungal friend grows well in areas with lots of organic matter or mulch. Wood Blewit mycelium usually takes one year of incubation to establish in the garden before fruiting. This medicinal and edible fungus has a mild and pleasant earthy flavor. Wood Blewits are happy growing together with shade-loving companion plants, especially ferns! Detailed instructions included with spawn.

Note: Wood Blewit mushrooms do not grow on logs. Wood Blewit mycelium must be in contact with soil to produce mushrooms. For growing mushrooms on logs, try plug spawn.

How much spawn do I need? A 5 lb bag covers approximately 30 sq ft of soil. A 5 lb bag can be mixed with 45 quarts of potting soil to fill 5 18” pots.

How to store spawn? When you receive your order, refrigerate your spawn. Store plugs and sawdust spawn for up to 6 months in the refrigerator. Remove them from the refrigerator the day before you plan on using them.
