How many plugs do I need? 100 plugs will inoculate three 3 foot long logs or 2 five foot logs.
What tools will I need to plug logs?
Drill
Drillbit – 5/16″ (8.5mm) bit for making holes for plug spawn
Soy Wax
Pot or Crockpot (to heat wax)
Paintbrush (to apply wax)
What kind of logs will I need for plug spawn? Tree species depends on the fungus you’d like to grow! Use logs cut within the past 3 months from trees without disease.
Ideal log size: 4-8” in diameter. 3-5 feet long.
How to store spawn? When you receive your order, refrigerate your spawn. Store plugs and sawdust spawn for up to 6 months in the refrigerator. Remove them from the refrigerator the day before you plan on using them.
